I've always been a big fan of animated films, especially ones that come from Japan. I've always felt they have so much talent and such a unique style incorporating philosophical ideas and fun story telling. Anyone can act, but not everyone can effectively draw the stories they envision. Howl's Moving Castle is a classic and one of my absoulte favorites. In general, anything Miyazaki creates is a true paradigm of film.
In my freetime I play a lot of video games, and I even saw an anime that had a similar plot to this movie. What makes this one of my absolute favorites, is that it really pushes the ideas of what it would be like to be in a super immersive online virtual experience. I cant help but dream that one day before I am old and boring, I will get to enjoy a virtual game just like this movie.
I've always been a fan of indie film genres, but even more so when it is a foreign indie film. About Time really plays with the idea that I think most people struggle with; That is, if you could go back in time and change something, prevent something, would you do it? This film is kind of a sappy love story, but I'm also a closet freak for love story cliches like this. The movie is relatable because I think at one point or another we as indivuals really wish we could change something if we could, however. This film does a good job of explaining that if we did change something in our past, our present may not always be same as if we had not changed it.
